Disability Promotion Advocacy Association (DPA) Vanuatu is very delighted and expressed its acknowledgment to Sanma Provincial Government Council and Luganville Municipality for including People with Disability in their 2017 – 2026 Strategic Development Plan.

As an umbrella organization responsible for promoting the rights of people with disabilities and advocating for their increased involvement in development processes, DPA is pleased to see that the two local authorities are not leaving behind people with disability in their ten years strategic development plan but taking them on board in the development of the two local authorities.

The 2017 – 2026 Sanma and Luganville Strategic Development Plan which was launched by the Minister of Internal Affair at the Sanma Chiefs Nakamal in Luganville highlights the strengthening of people with disability networks across all sectors. “The strategies in the strategic development plan were not from the staffs of two authorities or any others but it is directly from people with disability through various consultations and workshops that have been conducted by both authorities,” stated Ms Nelly Caleb, National Coordinator for Disability Promotion Advocacy.

DPA looks forward in working together with the two authorities to implement the plan for the benefit for all people with disabilities in Sanma and Luganville. The organization is also calling on all other Provinces and Municipality to include people with disabilities in any of their similar development plan.
